Around the 1990, our country, Myanmar, there were a lot of traditional dance shows. That we call “A Ngyaim”, consists of a lot of musical instrument players and dancers (both male and female).
The Murder
There is a couple in a poor community. The husband is a clown (an alcoholic) and the wife is a beginner of the same dancing group. She loves dancing, her dream since she was a child. One day, they quarrel and the husband killed her wife by injection with a knife (placing on a shelf of a Kayin traditional god image).
He injected about 11 times her abdomen with a knife. There was a lot of blood in the house. He ran away from the police but he didn’t escape. There was a dancing show at the evening which the wife consists of.
Her Show
After the funeral, the wooden bed which is used to place her dead body was placed at the religion building and a boy who live in that building slept on it at night. At the midnight, he woke up by the sound of whistling bell (in that time, the female dancers wear the whistling bells on their legs).
He saw a woman giving back to him and dancing. Suddenly , she turned to him and so he saw a terrify face with a lot of blood. He shouted and ran out side of the building.
The next morning, he said to the people of the whole community about that and he said that she was the dancer who was killed about last three days.
He could say that because she wearing the suit of female dancer that the dancer wore before the murder. At that night, the sister in law of the dancer (the wife of her brother who said that she will come to her show) went to the toilet and heard a strange sound like the foot-step.
So, she peeked through a hole of bamboo wall of the toilet. There was a terrible view that her sister in law (the dancer) was dancing correctly as like on a state. She saw that the dancer had no belly and could be seen the shaking of the internal body parts. Her face had no blood and a lot of blood are painted on her suit.
So, she shouted loudly and dizzied and fell asleep.
On the next day, her nephew said his parents that he saw his aunty was dancing on the wooden bed in front of their house. He saw her everywhere and there she was always dancing with the scary face.
Did she free?
There were a lot of cases about the showing of the dancer till 7 days after the funeral. People were so afraid and they did a lot of donation for the dancer in the way of Buddhism. After that there were no more cases about her dancing at nights.
Myanmar people believe that after dead you are doing a work or going to a place as that were thought about that after dead. So, the dancer was thinking about her dancing show that night before she was killed by her husband.
